Notary Acknowledgment. A Notary Acknowledgment is a formal declaration of a signature before a public official. The public official is usually a notary public but in many states the public official can be a judge, mayor or other such official. The Acknowledgment must be a part of the original document
The types of documents that require a notarization include, but are not limited to, closing documents signed by both the sellers and the buyers and warranty deeds. Real estate transactions executed in different states may require different forms to be notarized.
A notarized document is a document that has been certified by a notary public. The notary public is an official who verifies the identities of everybody signing the document, witnesses the signatures, and marks the document with a stamp (or “seal”). A notary is supposed to ensure that all signatures on a document are legitimate.
The Apostille only certifies the authenticity of the signature and the capacity of the person who has signed the public document, and, where appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp which the public document bears. The single authentication certificate (Apostille) will be printed in black ink and no longer will include the gold embossed state seal. The new single authentication certificate has an element of added security by providing a method on our website to confirm the issuance of the authentication certificate by our office. Each certificate has a unique file number and date the authentication certificate was issued.
Please reach us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The individual signing the document must appear in person and present a valid picture ID such as: Government ID • Driver’s License • Passport • Military IDs.
It’s important to have all your documents and identification ready for the notary. If you don’t have an ID, for example the Driver’s licenses for your parent living in a retirement home, call us and we can prepare a credible witness form before we arrive.
Don’t remove the staple from the document! If the staple is removed you run the risk of a third party refusing to accept the document as it may appear that the document has been tampered with.
